The Attack And God saw that the hatred of man was great in the United States and that every thought in the mind of man was only prejudiced and bigoted. Man was killing man was killing man and the nation was divided. And it haunted the Lord to know He had made man. Grief was in His heart. And the Lord said, I will teach the Americans, whom I created, a lesson. But not all Americans found disappointment in the eyes of the Lord.

And God said unto the heavens, there is much violence in the United States. Behold, I will teach them a lesson. I will send four airplanes down onto the salt of the earth and these planes will carry Americans who will become Martyrs. And, behold, these four planes will land two in the big city and one in the heart of the nation. The fourth shall fall unto the land of the trees and this plane will carry the epitome of man.

And it was the eleventh day of the ninth month that the lesson began. It came to pass in the two thousandth and first year. Behold, many of man were just starting their day and many of man woke to hear of the horror. It came to be that the four planes did not come to rest on the earth in unison and man was forced to watch as one by one the planes met their final destinations. And America was in great turmoil. Behold that man was in immortal pain and the world previously known to them was now over. And many men lost their lives that day so that God could teach Americans a lesson.

And God hoping His aim was true looked down upon the earth in great anticipation, and what the Lord saw pleased Him, although His heart itself was heavy. Behold, the thoughts of Americans were no longer prejudiced and bigoted. And God remembered what earth was meant to be and before His eyes His vision was becoming truth. Man was helping man, man was loving man, and the nation was one. Behold, Americans were now filling Gods heart with love and He blessed them. And God said, may man finally learn the lesson I try to teach.

I would like to begin by saying that I in no way believe the attack on New York was an act of punishment by God. I decided to tell the story of the attack on New York. To do this, I first needed to find a story that seemed similar to me. I chose to imitate Genesis and the story of the flood. It fit the theme to have the planes being sent from God. I reread the story noting characteristics that were inherit. The two that stood out were the use of the word "behold" and the use of the word "and." I knew I had to incorporate these words into my essay as much as possible.

I began by making an outline of what I wanted to say. I wanted to note the idea of togetherness the nation felt after the attacks. I knew that was going to end my paper. I then converted my outline into a story following the style of Genesis.

I used a narrator to tell this story as was used in Genesis. I also thought this would involve less emotion. I first thought this assignment would be very difficult. While writing the story, I found that the opposite was in fact true. When I followed the story in Genesis, it turned out to be quite easy. There was a definite form I needed to adhere to. However, I found that I was not able to say everything I wanted because it did not fit into the flow of the story. I had to leave some information out of my paper.

Before writing this paper I was somewhat obsessed with the events in New York. I felt as though I lost something that day whether it is innocence, security, or a sense of my reality. I was walking around with a hole in my heart. I realized while writing this paper that my world did not really end. My life was going on even though thousands of others had been fatally ended. In fact, I become conscious of something happening in our nation. A wave of emotion, previously non-existent, was sweeping across the country. Finally I watch TV, or walk down the street, and see unity amongst the nation and love amongst the people.
