Have Your Cake and Eat It To Many people assume baking a cake is an exhausting and complex task. Many simply believe that it is a role, perhaps, to leave for the professionals. It is possible to bake, however, with ease and confidence. A cake is a popular desert that can be fun to make. What is more important, it can be simple. By following my easy instructions, you too can prepare a cake! You will need an oven and an electric beater, basic utensils such as a spatula, a large mixing bowl, and a baking pan. The only ingredients needed, besides a cake pre-mix are three eggs, 1 1/2 cups of milk or water, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil and some pre-made icing. You can find a pre-mix in a multitude of flavors in your nearest grocery store.

To begin, organize your kitchen. Have the counters clean and arrange all baking materials so that they are easily accessible to you.

Preheat your oven to 350°F. While you are waiting for the oven to heat up, grease your baking pan with butter. This will prevent the cake, once fully baked, from sticking to the sides and bottom of the baking pan. Mix all ingredients with cake mix in a large mixing bowl. Use the electric beater and select beat as the setting. Beat for two minutes or until the mix has become smooth and creamy. Next, deposit the mix into the greased baking pan and bake uncovered for 35 to 40 minutes. Make sure that you don't over bake it. Remove cake from the oven after 35 minutes to test if the cake is ready. You can test it by placing a toothpick in the center of the cake and slowly removing it. If the toothpick is clean when removed, the cake is ready.

Before you garnish the cake with any icing, you must make sure the cake has fully cooled. Let the cake sit on the counter top for two hours. The icing may be too thick to spread. Place the tub of icing into the microwave for about 20 seconds. This will thin the icing out, preventing the cake from crumbling. Using a spatula, evenly spread the icing over the cake making swirling motions with your hand. This will make your icing look both delicious and professional. To garnish your cake further, use some sprinkles as desired.

Your cake is now ready to be served. The center of the cake should be moist. Serve this cake to your sweetheart on Valentines Day. Bake one for a family member for a birthday. Maybe give one to a friend or neighbor as a token of good faith. Whatever your reasons are for baking a cake, make sure you have fun with it.

A popular misconception about baking is that it is complicated. As you can see, it can be quite the contrary. Using a premix, being organized, and having a few utensils and ingredients can make it possible to bake with ease and confidence.
