On the evening of Sunday, July 20, 1969, the first man set his foot on the lunar surface. Since the television got very popular, several hundred million people witnessed an epoch-making step in the evolution of man. The importance of this event can only be compared with that moment in evolution when aquatic life come crawling up onto land.

Since the dawn of history, man had been chained to this planet. with the flight of Apollo 11 to the moon, it broke the chain.

"Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle had landed" Neil A.

Armstrong, a civilian commander, radioed that to earth.

The first men to reach the moon-Neil Armstrong and his pilot, Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. brought their ship to rest on a level near the Southwestern shore of arid Sea of Tranquility.

About six hours later, Neil Armstrong opened the landing craft's hatch, stepped slowly down the ladder and declared the first human footprint on the lunar crust: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." The first step on the moon was at 10:56:20 P.M.

They did a lot of work and collected many samples such as specific rocks that stand out from all the other ones.

Overall, this Apollo mission was achieved. The objective was to perform manned lunar landing and return mission safely. That was done. This mission showed that man could land on other planet, and show that he can live and work there. This first step of a manned landing on another planet in our solar system marks the beginning of man's long dreamed of journey in outer space.
