Introduction For my hero project, I've chosen Amelia Earhart. I chose her because of the way she was brave enough to do something that only a man had done.

Amelia EarhartAmelia Earhart was born at her Grandparents' house in Kansas on July 24,1897. One day Amelia's parents took her to a fair. At the Fair Amelia had seen her first plane, she was ten years old. The plane did not interest her at all.

In 1917 Amelia trained to be a nurse in Toronto. She did voluntary work at a military hospital until November 1918.

In 1920 Amelia decided to join her parents in California. A few months later Amelia's father took her to an "aerial meet". They handed her a helmet and goggles. Amelia went to a women pilot who gave flying lessons. Amelia's first flight was on an old plane which was called "Canuck." In July Amelia bought a Kinner plane naming it "The Canary". Amelia was working at an airport in 1926 when she got a phone call from Captain H.H. Railey (also known as George Putnam). He asked her if she would like to be the first woman to fly across the Atlantic.

On Sunday, June 3, 1928, Amelia, as a passenger, and George Putnam flew over the Atlantic. They landed in Burry Port in South Wales,
