Affirmative Action Affirmative action. America's biggest issue, societies smallest. Affirmative is one of the most concerned issues, in America, though society barely even looks at in the face. Is it right or wrong? First, I ask you what is the definition of Affirmative action? Affirmative action: a policy to increase opportunities for minorities and women esp., in employment and education. Then I ask you, what, or better yet who is a minority? Minority, by definition, is a group differing, esp. in race, religion, or ethnic background, from the majority of a population.i Now by this definition of a minority, I ask who is the majority population? My point to asking theses questions is simply asking another question, who does affirmative action apply too? Since there is no one majority population in America, how can we tell who affirmative action should be for. However, the government does not go by this definition, at lest not looking at America as a whole, but at it's different states and cities.

Then applying affirmative action to different people depending on the state and city. For example, let's look at California and Colorado.

California's majority population is Blacks, Hispanics, and Asians. Their minority is the white's. In Colorado, it's vice-versa. The majority is the white's and the minority is Blacks, Hispanics and Asians. So in California affirmative action should be towards the whites and in Colorado towards Blacks, Hispanics and Asians. So you see the difference between two states. Doing this could lead up to big problems.

To me affirmative action is racism itself. It will always be favoring one group and discriminating another, and that is racism. Though many people feel, we need to have affirmative action in America to be equal, they don't see how it's making it worse. The...
